The day of the child
On Wednesday 1 June 2011, Mozambique celebrated the International Day of the Child.
As part of its social responsibility, Matola Gas Company was proudly involved in this very important occassion by supporting the Escola Matola Primária Unidade ‘H’, which is in a very poor environment with many of its students unable to afford any luxuries and the school operates on sponsorships as there are no school fees.
The initiative on 1 June was used by MGC to supply every student with a T-shirt, biscuits and a juice, the latter sponsorship by SAB Biscuits (Biscotes Douro) and Parmalat. Crystal Smile also donated 2,200 apples for the children on this day.
MGC also provided entertainment for the day. Both DJ Ardeles and DJ Mario kept the children singing and entertained as the start of the initiative for this project.
The management was well pleased with the outcome and are now considering an expanded program to assist schools in its area of operations.
