Social Responsibility

Gigajoule’s first social responsibility project was the construction of a community kitchen, which is supplied by Natural Gas at no cost for the local community in Matola, to have a sustained, safe and clean energy source to use for cooking. 

Gigajoule, through its subsidiary companies, is upgrading schools, towns, provide refuse removal services in the Ressano Garcia and Matola districts. Gigawatt is the main sponsor for the Costa do Sol football club.

Gigawatt implements a training programme at the power plant, called GigaStart, where students are given academic education in dedicated training rooms and are then given first-hand practical training in the power plant.
